CPN-Maoist urges govt to roll back fuel hike

2014-03-14,Kathmandu:- Mohan Baidya -led CPN-Maoist has threatened of strong street protests if the government did not roll back its decision to hike petroleum prices . A board meeting of the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) earlier in the day had decided to raise the prices of petrol, diesel, kerosene and aviation fuel.

The NOC decided to raise petrol prices by Rs 10 a litre and diesel and kerosene by Rs 6 each a litre. In a statement issued by CPN-Maoist Secretary Dev Gurung, the party claimed that the irregularities in the NOC, unwanted officials and poor management were the reasons behind the loss NOC is incurring every year.

The statement further reads that the government is working against people’s sentiments by hiking petroleum prices just a day after it hiked the price of milk.

Likewise, Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Lok Narayan Subedi has demanded the government to roll back its decision to hike petroleum and milk price immediately.
