Ties with Nepal important: Prez Xi

KATHMANDU, MAY 29 - Chinese President Xi Jinping has said that China attaches great importance in developing friendly relations with Nepal and appreciates Nepal 's long standing one-China policy. In his message to President Ram Baran Yadav on the occasion of the Seventh Republic Day, the Chinese president has stated, "I would like to join hands with your honorable to further promote China- Nepal comprehensive cooperative partnership featuring ever-lasting friendship."

Xi further said that China and Nepal are friendly neighbors linked by mountains and rivers and the friendship between people from the two countries can be traced back to ancient times. The message has stated that China firmly supports Nepal 's efforts in safeguarding its independence, sovereignty and territory integrity and hopes that Nepal could complete constitution making process at the earliest so as to realise lasting stability and development.

Similarly, in a separate message to Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on the same occasion, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has said that Nepal is China's good neighbor, good partner and good friend. “The Chinese side appreciates that Nepal i side firmly pursue one-China policy. China respects and supports the social system and development road chosen by the Nepal i people according to its own national conditions," the message stated further.

Premier Li said the Chinese side will continue to provide assistance within its capacity to support Nepal 's social and economic development, further strengthen the friendly exchanges and pragmatic cooperation between the two countries and enhance China- Nepal comprehensive partnership of cooperation to a new height.
